About Us

What does Elogium mean?

During the time of the Roman Empire, an elogium was an inscription in honor of the deceased, carved on tombs, images of ancestors, and statues. Later, elogia became a literary genre, the texts were compiled by Marcus Terentius Varro and Titus Pomponius Atticus, and writing about famous deceased people became a popular rhetorical practice. (It is possible that the form of the elogium influenced the development of the epicedium, the Roman funeral poem).

In short: an elogium is an exalted speech, admiration, praise.

Religion is usually defined as a social-cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, morals, beliefs, worldviews, texts, sanctified places, prophecies, ethics, or organizations, that generally relates humanity to supernatural, transcendental, and spiritual elements; however, there is no scholarly consensus over what precisely constitutes a religion.

There are an estimated 10,000 distinct religions worldwide.About 84% of the world's population is affiliated with Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, or some form of folk religion. The religiously unaffiliated demographic includes those who do not identify with any particular religion, atheists, and agnostics. While the religiously unaffiliated have grown globally, many of the religiously unaffiliated still have various religious beliefs.

Religion and morality are not synonymous. While it is "an almost automatic assumption."in Christianity, morality can have a secular basis.

The study of religion and morality can be contentious due to ethnocentric views on morality, failure to distinguish between in group and out group altruism, and inconsistent definitions of religiosity.

Religion has had a significant impact on the political system in many countries.

Discrimination strikes at the very heart of being human. It is harming someone’s rights simply because of who they are or what they believe. Discrimination is harmful and perpetuates inequality.

We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our race, ethnicity, nationality, class, caste, religion, belief, sex, gender, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics, age, health or other status.

Elogium Team
work is rooted in the principle of non-discrimination. Working with communities across the world, we challenge discriminatory laws and practices to ensure all people can enjoy their rights on an equal basis.

So we will immediately delete the profile of anyone who violates someone's rights or the rules of the elogium community.
